Want to Be a Beta Tester?

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Blog entry by Danielle Follett Chard, The Leonardo's marketing specialist.

Last night at the Leo Garage, lots of experimenting, observing, and note-taking was going on. The purpose? To create a better museum, of course! We built an early prototype of one of our exhibits and invite a select few inside to check it out -- our own personal beta testers! (Thanks, guys.) By observing people interact with our exhibit and talking about feedback, we're able to identify and work out any kinks so the exhibit is even more awesome when we open.
Some of the crowd at The Leo's garage last night.
Guests were able to explore the earth in our Dance Dance Revolution-esque "Earthwalk," learn all about Utah in our data-filled amphitheater, and watch two short films from local artist Alex Johnstone. They also helped fill in our tear-away map (which first debuted at this event last September) and left behind their personal geographies in Landscape Secrets.

Guests try their hand at our tear-away map and fill us in on their secret spots around SLC.
This prototyping event was a first for us, but it's is certainly not the last. In fact, we're looking for people who'd like to become a member of our official prototyping team who will be able to try out our exhibits and installations long before the general public. This team would be fresh eyes for us, helping us see what's great and what's not, and what we can add to the experience to make it even richer. If this is something you'd like to be a part of, let us know by answering the questions below and emailing them to mkontgis (at) gmail (dot) com, subject Leo Prototype Team.

  • First and last name
  • Age (promise we won't tell!)
  • City where you reside
  • Email and phone number
  • Why you're interested in helping prototype
  • Why you think you could help us improve
  • Availability: mornings, afternoons or evenings

We'd love to have you join us on this team, so let us know as soon as possible. Otherwise, you'll have to wait to see them when we open later this year!
